The SA Foundation and Serve Nepal
“If you have come to help me you are wasting your time.
However, if you have come because our liberation is bound
with mine, then let us work together."

I. About Us
The SA Foundation (Servants Anonymous) is a Christian
organization dedicated solely to providing a world-wide solution
to the sexual exploitation of women and children. The SA
Foundation has developed a program model to provide the
resources and support necessary for women and children seeking
to leave a life of sexual exploitation.
Serve Nepal has adopted its program model and its
principles of operation from the SA Foundation’s international program model for developing countries.
This program model has been designed with careful consideration
for the culture and practices of Nepal. By partnering with local
organizations, Serve Nepal delivers its programs and services
with utmost consideration for the sexually exploited women and
youth of Nepal.
The SA Program Model for South Asia
Overseas, the SA Foundation’s World Services division has
established relationships with Christian leaders, and other
organizations committed to addressing problems related to sexual
exploitation in their country. All partner organizations
established under the SA umbrella are managed by national
representatives and are established to reflect/address the
cultural uniqueness of each country, while at the same time
preserving the mutual values established by SA.
The SA Foundation’s World Services division is instrumental in
assisting, supporting and providing support and, in some cases
ongoing funding to newly developed SA-based organizations. Each
new SA-based organization is developed with a long-term vision
for financial self-sustainability.
II. SN Spirituality

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was
thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and
you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was
sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to
visit me…. I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the
least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Matthew 25: 35-36, 40.
Serve Nepal is a Christian organization striving to meet the
needs of the oppressed, isolated, abused, and hurting… with
love, acceptance and hope.
III. The SN Anonymity Principle

Complete anonymity of the women and children who come to us
for help
To protect the women and children who
come to us for help, Serve Nepal will not use their actual
stories and/or faces on any SN brochures, marketing materials or
other media or public relations publications. None of
faces shown in this website are those we work with. We resist the
tendency to label these women and children as ‘sex worker’,
‘drug addict’, ‘victim’, ‘child prostitute’, etc. We recognize numerous mistakes and regrets in our own
past as well as injustices that have been done to us and we are
grateful that we are not labeled according to these events. These women/girls are not prostitutes. They are mothers,
daughters, sisters and nieces, who for various reasons, have
been prostituted.
Our job is to love them for who they really
are. We aim to find the little girl inside, before she was
abused, sold, and prostituted and help her to realize her true
value and self-worth. With our help, these women do go on to
become successful mothers, wives, and contributing members in their own
communities. If we sell their pictures and stories for the sake
of our funding needs we could potentially jeopardize their
reintegration back into society thus contradicting the very
purpose for our involvement in their lives.
Complete anonymity of staff at all levels of media
Serve Nepal's principle of anonymity also
applies to our staff and leaders, and is carefully followed
to ensure that those who work for us are motivated by a desire
to serve others and not by their own personal gain or
glorification. We do not want to take credit for the work that
these women and children must do to regain control over their
lives. Thus we prefer to emphasize 'the work' as opposed to 'the
worker'.
We acknowledge that our commitment to anonymity is difficult to
understand let alone accept, especially at a time when
technology can put a 'face' to any situation worldwide. We also
acknowledge and respect that those who donate may want to see
pictures of the woman/child whom received their support. Please
allow us to challenge you on that. How does revealing their
identity benefit these women and youth or expedite their
recovery and safe reintegration?
Please remember that our work addresses a very sensitive issue,
one that carries a lot of social stigma in all societies, not
just South Asia. Shame and ostricization are not associated with
those who are hungry or poor. However, it is always and
inevitably linked with anyone who has been labeled prostitute,
drug addict, and/or AIDS patient.
We are deeply humbled by your desire to support our work and our
women. We welcome your involvement. Aside from the anonymity of
our participants we practice complete transparency in all areas
of our organization. Please contact us should you wish to learn
more about us or if you would like to view any of our financial
statements, organizational structures, governance issues, etc.
We look forward to hearing from you. |
