*These women/youth
often come to us with absolutely nothing, sometimes
without enough money to buy food that day. Each
start up fund includes a $40 gift that goes a long
way to show our love in a very practical way,
offering immediate support and encouragement. |
One of the most practical ways
to empower women and children to resist a life of forced
prostitution is to first, educate them and their families and
secondly, provide a sufficient economic alternative. If both of
these factors are present no one would choose to sell their bodies and
souls rather than work an honest trade. Unfortunately, this
choice is rarely provided.
Serve Nepal strives to provide each woman/child with as much
choice and opportunity as possible. If you would like to support
this initiative we would appreciate if you made a generic
donation to the Income Generation Program and allow us to
allocate to the specific micro enterprise i.e. sewing or goat
keeping, according to the needs of each woman/child.
Thank you.
We also have approximately 15-20 women currently involved in our
Handicraft Business. |
